IDEAlaboratory 2011 explores the possibility of integrating contemporary art and art education from three different aspects during three days in the form of lectures and practical workshops. There are exciting speakers from a dozen countries.
On April 28 we will focus on The Art of Thinking – on understanding art and the importance of the idea; the inclusion of the community; collaboration and teaching art outside the classroom; using creative strategies in contemporary art and art education.
April 29 is the day of The Art of Looking – how the significance of optics in art has changed from the time of the impressionists to today’s surveillance society; how to recognize and create art in the surrounding environment – whether art is in the eye of the beholder; how to become a better viewer by using all of one’s senses; how to cleverly employ what is provided by the new media as well as traditional drawing, etc.
On April 30, the focus is on The Art of Creating – if creativity is a survival skill of the 21st century, how to create the conditions that promote creativity in general education; how to maintain the natural wish and courage of students to ask questions; how to creatively combine different arts, such as improvisational music and visual arts.
The last day of IDEAlaboratory will be topped with a video interview with Sir Ken Robinson about contemporary art, creativity and educational reforms, and the JazzPainting workshop in cooperation with Jazzkaar.
The working language of IDEAlaboratory is English.
