The Contemporary Art Triennial for School Students Eksperimenta! (E!) is a unique and first ever international event that brings art education out from school walls and presents contemporary art made by 14-19 year old youngsters.
Located in the halls at the famous Song Festival grounds, where Estonian Singing Revolution took place 20 years ago, E! represents a similar breakthrough, this time through education.
Eksperimenta! is a multi-level international art [education] project designed for students between the ages of 14 and 19, artists and art teachers. E! has three components:
1) a triennial exhibition consisting of national expositions curated by professional curators;
2) IDEAlaboratory – an education and exchange programme;
3) a network of art schools and art centres.
The main aim of Eksperimenta! is bringing art and art education closer to each other and thus initiate sustainable changes in art education. The first E! will be held in Tallinn on April 26th – June 14th 2011 in the indoor and outdoor space of the Song Festival Grounds and its surroundings. E! belongs to the programme of European Capital of Culture Tallinn 2011.
There will be students, teachers and professional curators from more than a dozen countries participating: Canada, Portugal, Germany, Slovenia, Turkey, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Finland, Russia, South Korea, Iceland and Ireland.
