The Gambling Tax Council

LOGO_VärvilineThe Gambling Tax Council allocates support and was established under the Gambling Tax Act in 2002. The Council comprises 9 members of whom 6 are members of parliament and 3 are representatives of ministries. Support is distributed once a month.

The Gambling Tax Council supports the following areas:
– Programmes and events related to children, young people, families, elderly persons and disabled persons – applications submitted to the Ministry of Social Affairs;
– Projects and events related to science, education, children and young people – applications submitted to the Ministry of Education and Research;
– Programmes and events related to culture and sport – applications submitted to the Ministry of Culture.

The activities of the Gambling Tax Council are financed from Gambling Tax. In 2002 and 2003 respectively, 3.8 and 4.4 million euros was allocated for support. Such money is distributed as follows: 32% of the specified amount shall be allocated for supporting projects related to science, education, children and young people; 22% for supporting Olympic preparation projects; 10% for supporting other sports projects; 32% for supporting projects related to families, medicine, welfare, elderly persons and disabled persons; and 4% for supporting cultural projects.
